Social supper evening

at St Francis Millennium Hall which will involve light entertainment and an informal quiz around the theme of "Desert Island Pics"! Members will have the opportunity to send in a single image of an art work [electronically or by post] which they would choose to enjoy if stranded ! Please SAVE THE DATE. Details will follow about the supper options, but it is a BYO event [bring your own booze] and tickets will be just £5-00 each for ACF members and £7-00 for non-members who come along as guests.

 Friday 13th July, 6pm to 8pm  

You are all invited to TRAVELLERS' GALLERY [platform 1 on Barry Station] this Friday evening the 13th July from 6.00pm- 8.00pm.This will be the formal Opening of the Annual SUMMER OPEN EXHIBITION.


Saturday 14th July, 4pm to 6pm
Summer Open Exhibition 2018 at West Wharf Gallery (at Jacob's Market, Cardiff). You are invited to the Private view of our Summer Exhibition on the 14th July at 4:00pm.
We are hoping to have Jazz and cocktails on the roof terrace, weather permitting! Limited car parking is available behind Jacobs Market and can also be found just a 2 minute stroll away from West Wharf Gallery at the rear of Cardiff Central train station.

A large number of car parks can also be found throughout the city centre.

The Hearth Gallery is delighted to show an exciting exhibition of new and commissioned artworks in celebration of 70 years of the formation of the NHS, Celebrating NHS @70
June 28th – August 13th 2018
Commissioned artworks on display within the gallery space are a print installation by Molly May Lewis, a signature painting by Aidan Myers, and a collaborative textile wall-hanging by Alison Holmquist.
We are excited to present collaborative projects including a sculptural installation by Simone Cuff, a video installation by Mark Taubert and a sound installation by University of Manchester as part of their NHS at 70 National Digital Archive project.
We are also displaying a painting of Aneurin Bevan by Nathan Wyburn which accompanies a time-lapse video on line, together with Illustrations and Observational Sketches by Helen Turnbull.

Textile Artist Judy Stephens, a member of ACF, CASW and the Women's Arts Association (WAA) has various of her wonderful textiles on show across the UK this year. Judy has pieces in prestigious group shows:-

Contemporary Quilters West whose exhibition called "Unfolding Stories 3" is on show in Harbour House Centre, Kingsbridge Devon in April and early May. Later in August she is showing at the Swansea festival of Stitch which will offer Textile Art Master classes around sites of Swansea.[see www.swanseafestivalofstitch.co.uk]

Annual SUMMER OPEN EXHIBITION

The Gallery can be found on Platform 1,Barry Station. Barry CF62 7RH.

 

Note that the gallery is open from 7.30am to 12 noon on Mondays to Fridays.

 

This gallery is part of the café and it hosts a series of exhibitions throughout the year in aid of 'Mind in the Vale' and with the valued help of VOGA members who voluntarily curate the exhibitions.



 

 

 

 

LECTURES and PUBLIC TALKS

Free lectures organised by C A S W- The Contemporary Arts Society of Wales

These take place on Tuesday evenings at 7.30 pm in the Birt Acres Lecture theatre in Cardiff University's Bute Building [ on King Edward VII Avenue CF10 3NB] which is home to both the School of Journalism and School of Architecture. Parking space is ample at this time and the venue is just 8 minutes on foot from Cathays train station. A number of ACF members have been attending these excellent sessions for a few years.

The lectures last about an hour and are FREE. The speakers are practising artists or art historians.
